Here's how to tell.
Loan scams borrow real brand names, and "Zebit" is one of them — partly because the original Zebit Market closed and left customers searching. This page lists the patterns we're seeing, the one test that catches almost all of them, and what to do if you've already paid.
Last updated Oct 25, 2026 · We never charge to apply · We never text or call first

Did they ask you to pay first?
Almost every loan scam is an advance-fee scam. A real lender takes its fee out of the loan or in the APR — never before you've received money. If anyone asks for a fee, a deposit, a gift card, a wire or crypto before funding, it is a scam. Full stop.
A real message from us
- Comes from an address ending in @zebitusa.com
- Replies to something you did — a request, an email
- Links only to zebitusa.com or your lender's own portal
- Never asks for money, a password or your full SSN
- Gives you time; nothing expires in minutes
A scam using our name
- Texts or calls you first — we don't cold-contact anyone
- Asks for a fee to apply, unlock, verify or release funds
- Wants a gift card, wire, Zelle, Cash App or crypto
- "Guaranteed approval" — no real lender says this
- Pressure: "today only", "10 minutes", "or lose the offer"
Patterns we're seeing
Reported to us by borrowers or found by us. "Active" means reports in the last 90 days.
"Your Zebit loan is approved — pay the processing fee"
A text or email says a loan is approved and asks for $50–$300 by gift card, Zelle or crypto to "release" it. Sometimes a second fee follows for "insurance" or "tax."
Tell: we have no fees, and we don't approve anything you didn't request. Don't reply; forward it to us.
Fake "Zebit" apps and look-alike domains
App-store listings and websites using the Zebit name to collect applications, fees or bank logins. The real site is zebitusa.com — nothing else. There is no Zebit USA mobile app.
Tell: check the address bar letter by letter. Domains we've seen imitating the old or new Zebit:
"Verify your account" bank-login request
A message asks you to confirm your identity by entering your online-banking username and password on a form.
Tell: lenders verify income through secure read-only tools; no one needs your login. We never send login forms by email or text.
The overpayment "agent"
Money appears in your account (a fake or soon-to-bounce deposit), then a "Zebit agent" says it was too much and asks you to send part back.
Tell: we don't have agents, and funds come from your lender in the exact amount on your agreement. Don't send anything; call your bank.
Old Zebit Market "refund" or "reactivation"
Someone claims to be from Zebit and offers to refund or reactivate a Zebit Market account — for a fee or your card details.
Tell: Zebit Market stopped serving customers in 2024; we are not that company and can't access its accounts. What happened to Zebit
Fake debt collection for a "Zebit loan"
A caller demands payment on a Zebit loan you never took, sometimes with threats of arrest.
Tell: legitimate collectors must send written validation; no one can arrest you for a debt. Ask for it in writing, then check with your lender and us.
How to verify any message
- Read the sender address, not the display nameOurs end in @zebitusa.com. "Zebit Support <[email protected]>" is not us.
- Don't click — typeOpen a new tab and type zebitusa.com yourself. Log in to your lender through the address in your agreement.
- Ask the money questionDoes it want a payment before funding? Then it's a scam, whatever name it uses.
- Forward it to us[email protected], subject "Suspicious message". We confirm the same business day.
Move fast — in this order
- Call your bank or card issuer nowAsk to reverse the transfer or dispute the charge. Zelle, wire and gift-card payments are hardest to recover, but a fast call sometimes works.
- Gift card? Call the card companyReport it stolen with the card number and receipt; some can freeze unredeemed balances.
- Change passwords you sharedBank first, then email. Turn on two-factor authentication.
- Report itreportfraud.ftc.gov · consumerfinance.gov/complaint · your state attorney general · and us, so we can warn others.
- Freeze your credit if you shared your SSNFree at all three bureaus; lifts in minutes when you need it.
Being scammed isn't a credit event and doesn't affect your eligibility with lenders in our network.

Asked after a strange text
Does Zebit have an app?
No. zebitusa.com works in any browser and there is no Zebit USA app in any store. Anything called "Zebit" in an app store is not us.
Will Zebit ever call or text me?
We reply by email from @zebitusa.com to messages you send us; we never make first contact by phone or text. Your lender may call about an active loan using the details in your agreement.
Is a small "processing fee" ever legitimate?
Not before funding. Legitimate costs — an origination fee where it exists, interest, late fees — are either deducted from the loan or printed in the agreement and paid over time. Anything paid upfront, by any method, is a scam. Rates & fees
I got a message about my old Zebit Market account. Is it real?
Treat it as a scam unless it comes from a Zebit, Inc. channel you already used. Zebit Market stopped serving customers in 2024 and we are a separate company. Old Zebit accounts
